Windows Live Writer/Blogging

28 Sep

I’ve decided to try out windows live writer for writing my blog posts. The last couple of days have been quite productive for me as far as my blogging goes. I know a lot of my stuff is just regurgitating news and other peoples blog posts.

However i’m going to try and get some original content up, if I can think of any. I’m not sure whether I want to go the whole hog and disclose everything about my work and personal life. Robert Scoble has his mobile/cell number on his blog, I don’t think I would ever go that far, but it does show the openness of the blogosphere.

A Rise In Traffic

12 Jun

I haven't had time to blog anything the last few days. Today is the first day i've had a chance to sit at my computer for any length of time.

So boy was I surprised when I checked the traffic on my blog. For some reason my post pointing to a World Cup Spreadsheet is on the first page for quite a few search engines. As you can see the traffic levels have increased quite a bit.

Also the number of hits has gone over 1000.

Who’s Subscribed To My Feed?

17 May

I was checking the stats here on WordPress and noticed that there are around  6-8 people subscribed to my feed. Which I thought was weird as I thought no one reads it. Here’s the graph

If you do subscribe please leave a comment.

Mark’s Musings for 25-4-2006

25 Apr

Tom Morris has nice post about a day in the life of Mike Arrington from TechCrunch

Wow just noticed that my OPML blog has a Google Page Rank of 4. Which is quite impressive.

Why is it so hard to write copy? I’m in the middle of writing some copy for a website that is to be launched soon, and it is so hard to do.

So the BBC are getting rid of Grandstand. To be honest for a long time now there’s been nothing worth watching on it apart from Six Nations rugby.

Why the hell would you want to be underwater for 7 days. David Blaine plans to do this in an 8ft high water filled sphere more on the BBC News website. It’s all beacuse of the Magic shazam.

To Move or Not to Move

25 Feb

I’ve been thinking about moving to WordPress full-time for my blog. I like the fact i can change theme easily with it, I also like that fact that they should be around for a long time and hopefully will still offer free blogs.

I currently have a blog over Dave Winer’s opml blogs. I like the outline style of blogging I think it offers a “quick ‘n’ dirty” way of getting ideas, links and thoughts up somewhere you can share them with other people.
It also creates permalinks to these items and allows you to publish your RSS feeds when you want to. The only thing that worries me, well perhaps not worries me but something I think about is the fact that Dave hosts these at the moment.

I know there is the OPML Community Server but hosting lots of blogs that could get very popular can cost a lot of money will someone else take the role as blog hoster?

If Dave decides to swicth of the current server what happens to the contect on there would we be able to get it off? There seems to be a lot of things happening around the OPML Community recently and Dave has said that a 1.0 release of the OPML Editor might come out in April where he plans to do some OPML Roadshows to promote it. Again with all this extra publicity will the servers cope? what happens if they’re swicthed off?

I know i’m not a proficient blogger, i’m not even that good at it, if you can be good at blogging.

As Dave says if you have an idea and want people to hear about it blog it so I am. I really like the editor as a blogging tool so im not dissing the product i’m just wondering what’s going to happen.

Importing from Blogger

22 Feb

I’ve just found the importer tool for WordPress, so i tried it with my Blogger accounr and it works flawlessly.

Well done WordPress. These kinds of tools really help people like myself who can’t decide what software they want to use. Firefox Blog Extension

The install is pretty straight forward and using it is simple enough.
